President Trump Holds Rally in Clarksville
Tennessee Today

With just weeks until the midterm election, President Donald Trump, who was joined by Republican lawmakers and candidates from across the state, held a large rally at Clarksville’s F&M Bank Arena, with supporters waiting overnight in the rain to gain admittance to the event.

This rally follows another recent trip by President Trump to Tennessee for the Tennessee vs. Texas football match-up, one of only a handful of visits to the Volunteer State over the past few years. In his speech, President Trump addressed the uniqueness of his late-cycle stop in Tennessee, asking the crowd, “What the hell am I doing in Tennessee?” before continuing on to say that his visit was a “reward” for Tennessee’s steadfast support.

Throughout an almost 2-hour-long address, President Trump touched on a variety of issues from illegal immigration to Iran, to discussing renaming either the Pacific or Atlantic Ocean to “Ocean of the Americas.” President Trump also drew on Tennessee-specific issues, touting the success of the Memphis Safe Task Force, highlighting increased investment in Tennessee, including Korea Zinc’s multi-billion-dollar investment in a smelter project, and recognizing the service of those at Fort Campbell.

President Trump also urged the crowd to get out and vote, telling them to “Pretend that I’m running and go out. You got to get out to vote.”

Prior to President Trump’s speech, Senator Marsha Blackburn, Congressman Matt Van Epps, Congressman Scott DesJarlais, Johnny Garrett, Charlie Hatcher, Brent Taylor, Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton, and former Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs addressed the crowd.

Republican nominee for governor, Marsha Blackburn, told attendees that “we are working together as a team to make certain that Tennessee never becomes California.” A statement that was met with loud cheering and applause.

Kid Rock also took the stage, delivering a fiery speech before introducing the President.

This rally is one of many that President Trump will hold over the next few weeks, as Republicans seek to hold control of the government in the midterm elections.
