Marsha Blackburn Holds Commanding Leading in Gubernatorial Race
Tennessee Today

Recent polling shows Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn with a commanding 21-point lead over her Democratic opponent Jerri Green in the race for governor.

The poll, conducted by the Beacon Center of Tennessee in August, shows Blackburn receiving 55% of support from likely voters, while Green received 34% and a generic independent candidate received 7% of support. Only 4% of voters remain undecided in the gubernatorial contest.

This poll follows a decisive win by both Blackburn and Green in their respective parties’ nominations in August.

Blackburn is the senior United States Senator from Tennessee. She launched her bid for the governor’s office last August. The Blackburn campaign has been running on the promise to make Tennessee “America’s conservative leader,” with her championing conservative policies from immigration enforcement to school choice.

With the general election exactly two months away, this polling is a good indication of what Tennessee will be looking at in November: it looks likely that Blackburn will be victorious come fall.
