COMMENTARY: It’s ‘Nuclear Family Month’ in Tennessee…Yet Another Thing the Volunteer State is Doing Right
Tennessee Today

Over the past few years, June has seemed more colorful than ever. Not from the changing of seasons from spring to summer, but in the constant stream of rainbows that forcefully plague your social media feed starting on the first of the month. People, companies, influencers, and leaders alike engage in socially mandated virtue signaling for 30 days, in hopes that they will be left alone for the other 335.
Many bow down to the woke mob during “Pride Month”. Others rise against them, loudly proclaiming their dissent. Tennessee, on the other hand, has chosen to walk down a different path entirely.
Here in Tennessee, June is now “Nuclear Family Month.”
In a resolution adopted by the Tennessee General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Bill Lee, Tennessee officially made the month of June about strong family structure instead of liberal nonsense. It recognizes that “the nuclear family, consisting of one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children, is God’s design for familial structure and has been the bedrock of society since the creation of the world” and that America’s prosperity was built on the hard work of families.
Through this resolution, Tennessee recommits to truth in a world that is becoming increasingly willing to live a lie. Our families are critical in every sense of our lives. In daily life, in social life, in political life, in religious life, how we were raised and who we are surrounded with every day affects how we act and how we succeed, or fail.
Yet the left continues to deny the importance of the nuclear family in favor of weird new acronyms and delusion. Thankfully, the leaders of our state understand how to interpret statistics and stick to their values, and thus understand the importance of strong nuclear families.
Senator Marsha Blackburn, who is currently running to become our next governor, showed her support for Nuclear Family Month on Facebook, stating, “Tennessee values faith, family, and freedom. This June, let us celebrate the nuclear family.” We need more leaders like Senator Blackburn who stand strongly for our family values.

Yet, Tennessee still puts up with our own crazy. Running in the Democratic primary for governor is Memphis City Councilwoman Jerri Green. Green bragged on Facebook that she would be attending a Pride parade and invited her supporters to join. In a video from the parade, you can see Green holding a sign with a rainbow heart that proclaims “Free Mom Hugs.”

But, in general, Tennessee is in the right place, as long as we elect the right people in November, and the rest of the country is taking notice. On June 1, Indiana followed Tennessee’s lead. Governor Mike Braun issued a proclamation declaring that June is “Nuclear Family Month.” On X, Governor Braun stated, “As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, this proclamation recognizes the important role families play in shaping the future of our state and our country.”
Slowly, but surely, it seems that our nation is moving back in the right direction. In Tennessee, June is still more colorful, but because of the beauty of nature that the Good Lord created, not a bunch of pride flags that dilute the meaning of a beautiful promise the Lord gave us. While some choose to use June to promote evolving social agendas, many Tennesseans prefer to celebrate the values that have long defined our state: faith, family, community, and a respect for the traditions that have stood the test of time.
