Chattanooga Developments Poised to Drive Economic Growth
Tennessee Today
Chattanooga may be one of the oldest cities in the South, but they don’t let that slow down its development. Two new exciting development projects, Erlanger Park, which opened this spring, and Sunset Amphitheater, recently announced in May, are set to drive economic growth for the Scenic City.
Erlanger Park, the new home of the minor league baseball team Chattanooga Lookouts, opened in April following years of uncertainty. It is expected to bring over $2.3 billion in economic growth to the city.
This park is the perfect addition to the Tennessee Riverwalk, encouraging a fun, family-friendly atmosphere and creating a new place for Chattanoogans to commune. Erlanger Park functions not only as a baseball stadium, but also as an event venue with 40,000 square feet of climate-controlled space. It can be utilized for concerts and weddings, cementing itself as a major attraction in Chattanooga.

In the area surrounding Erlanger Park, developers have acquired the former U.S. Pipe and Wheland Foundry site, with the intention of enlarging the South Broad District to include new homes, apartments, and retail space.
Development in Chattanooga continues to expand, with plans in the works for a new entertainment venue, Sunset Amphitheater. Featuring a canopied roof for airflow, gorgeous views of Lookout Mountain and a capacity of over 12,500 people, the Sunset Amphitheater has the potential to host 85 events per year and bring over 154,000 people to Chattanooga annually. The city hopes this new space will attract a large variety of live events to Chattanooga, rather than residents having to travel to Nashville or Atlanta in order to see a show.

Chattanooga’s growth falls into a larger pattern of investment and development across the state. Both Starbucks and In-N-Out have established headquarters in Tennessee within the past year and developments like the new Nissan Stadium are bringing national attention, with it recently being announced that Nashville will host Super Bowl LXIV in 2030.
