As the August primary approaches, Senator Marsha Blackburn continues to distinguish herself from her opponents in the gubernatorial race. She not only boasts a significant lead in the polls, but also continues to break fundraising records, solidifying her status as the clear front-runner.
For Q1 of 2026, Blackburn announced she received 15,000 donations, totaling $1.23 million. This number far overshadows the fundraising efforts of candidate Congressman John Rose, who raised only $150,000 in the same period, which is essentially $1 for every $8 that Blackburn raised.
Though Rose has given no indication that he plans on pulling out of the primary, it seems as though his donors are quietly pumping the brakes. On the other hand, everything about the Blackburn campaign indicates that they will only continue to build on the over $6 million they have raised in the last 8 months.
On her momentum, Blackburn’s campaign treasurer, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, said it best, “Team Marsha isn’t just a campaign; it’s a grassroots movement, and that’s evident in this quarter’s fundraising report.” The Blackburn campaign has managed to not only raise impressive amounts of funds, but they have built a team that can sustain the excitement surrounding her candidacy and her vision for the state. It is through that team that Blackburn will continue to be the clear front-runner in the governor’s race.
But, Blackburn is no stranger to overwhelming support and decisive victories. In 2024, she beat her opponent by 29.6 points in the general election for Senate and she carried over 89.5% of the vote share in the primary. Prior to that, in the 2018 Senate election, she bested her primary opponent by 69 points. It seems that 2026 will only be another win to add to the list, with recent polling indicating a 51-point lead over Rose, who is her closest competitor.
With less than three months until the Republican primary one thing is abundantly clear: Tennesseans are excited about Marsha Blackburn. They’re saying it in the polls, with their wallets, and at just about every political event across the state. It seems as though it won’t be long before Tennessee has its first female Governor.
