Tennessee’s Winning Streak: Volunteer State Brings Home Four National Honors
Tennessee Today
In a year when much of the country is navigating economic uncertainty, Tennessee is moving in the opposite direction. The state brought home four CiCi Awards from Trade & Industry Development, a national recognition of projects that are driving real investment, job creation, and community impact.
It is a strong signal that Tennessee’s business friendly approach is working. Big industry is choosing their new homes and our local communities are seeing the benefits firsthand.

Korea Zinc operates at the center of the global supply chain for critical minerals. The kind of materials that quietly power modern life, from electronics to defense systems. Choosing Tennessee as a hub for that work reflects more than cost or convenience. It reflects trust in the state’s workforce, infrastructure, and long-term stability.
Oak Ridge Builds on Its Innovation Legacy
Oak Ridge has always carried a sense of purpose. That identity is evolving again through a partnership between BWXT Enrichment Operations, LLC, Oklo Inc., and Radiant Industries Inc..
Together, these companies are bringing more than $2 billion in investment and over 1,000 jobs to a region already known for its scientific leadership.
The focus is on next-generation nuclear technology, including advanced fuel capabilities and compact reactor systems. For a region long associated with scientific innovation, this project represents continuity as much as change. It reinforces Oak Ridge’s role as a center for energy development while positioning Tennessee within emerging sectors that require both technical expertise and sustained investment.

In Erwin, the story is about more than investment. It is about a comeback.
Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, companies including Foam Products Corporation, PlastiExports, PolyPipe, and Impact Plastics stepped in to help rebuild.
Their combined $50.7 million investment and 290 jobs are restoring economic stability in a community that needed it most. These manufacturers are doing more than just reopening facilities. They are creating new opportunities, supporting local families, and proving that Tennessee communities have the strength to recover and grow. It is a prime example of resilience backed by real action.
Fayette County and the Reach of Rural Investment

Known for its specialty baked goods, the company’s expansion brings more than production capacity. It brings long-term opportunity to a rural area where job growth can transform entire communities.
This project highlights a key strength for Tennessee wherein growth is not limited to major cities. Industry spreads outside hubs to rural counties, strengthening local economies, and giving more Tennesseans the chance to live and work close to home.
Taken together, these four awards tell a bigger story. Tennessee is not just attracting investment; it is building an economy that works for both global companies and local communities. There is a sense of pride behind these wins, as the state continues to prove that with the right approach, growth and opportunity can go hand in hand. The Volunteer State is not slowing down, it’s just getting started!
