New Cygnal Poll Shows Blackburn Commanding Lead in Tennessee GOP Governor’s Race
Tennessee Today
NASHVILLE, TN — A newly released statewide poll from Cygnal shows U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn holding a dominant lead in the 2026 Republican primary for Tennessee governor, further solidifying her position as the clear frontrunner in the race.
Conducted among likely Republican voters, the survey found Blackburn leading the field with 58% support, far ahead of her nearest competitors. U.S. Rep. John Rose trails at 7%, while State Rep. Monty Fritts registers 4%, with other candidates drawing minimal support.

The poll reflects a wide margin advantage for Blackburn, who has consistently posted strong numbers in early and mid-cycle polling. Previous surveys from Tennessee Student Success and the Beacon Center similarly showed her leading the Republican field by substantial double-digit margins.
Political observers note that Blackburn’s early dominance exhibits both her high name recognition and broad support among GOP primary voters across the state. The Cygnal results also indicate a sizable portion of undecided voters remains, suggesting the race will continue to evolve in the months leading up to the August 2026 primary.
Blackburn, a longtime figure in Tennessee politics and the state’s first female U.S. senator, entered the gubernatorial race as a heavy favorite. Her campaign has also demonstrated strong momentum on the fundraising front, reporting millions raised from tens of thousands of contributors in the early months of the race.
The 2026 election will determine the successor to term-limited Gov. Bill Lee, with the Republican nominee widely expected to have a significant advantage in the general election in the reliably red state.
The Cygnal poll is the latest indicator that, at this stage of the race, Blackburn remains firmly in command of the GOP primary field.
