UTC student government denies Turning Point USA chapter bid

A group of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga students wants to register a campus chapter of Turning Point USA as a recognized student organization, university officials said Wednesday.
The Student Government Association denied the organization’s approval in a vote on Tuesday. The vote serves as a recommendation to the Dean of Students Office, which will make the final decision under university policy and the law, UTC spokesperson Jay Blackman said in a statement.
Blackman said all organizations that properly complete the registration process will be recognized by the university and that, as with any student group, the university is supporting the students trying to register a Turning Point USA chapter on campus.
The university did not say when a final decision would be announced.
